Au Bon Marche Paris box & French wool doll coat

Where do I even begin? I suppose, from the very start of this wonderful shop. Au Bon Marche was Paris’ first department store which opened in 1852. They were world renowned for selling the most exquisite doll clothing of the time. This beautiful chocolate brown wool coat has mother of pearl buttons ( missing one) and is belted at the waist. There are some moth holes, but luckily, this little beauty is fully lined in what feels to me like a heavy weight silk. It measures 16.5" long from the top back collar to hemline. I have shown it on my size 9 French girl and it fits her like a dream! Remarkably, the wooden framed box is still in quite sturdy condition for being 150+ years old. It retains it’s original inside ties and even some of the brown tissue paper. The lid, which is made of a very thick card stock, retains all four metal corner stabilizers and fully intact Au Bon Marche store label which is written in French and deserves to be framed in it’s own right. There are a few indecipherable numbers written on the top right hand side of the box cover which only add to the charm of this glorious antique presentation. $275.00 postage paid
