Wooly sheep on cast iron wheels

I believe this to be a toy made by the Robert Unger factory of Waltershausen. He was well reputed for making fine animal toys filled with soft stuffing, as this lamb is. Standing 8” to top of head and 10” long without the tail, 12” with tail fully extended. I have shown an advertisement from 1910 for the R. Unger toys which I believe depicts this lamb. There is an area where the ear meets the head that has a hard glue like residue. The color matches the wooly covering. I think that at one time, the ear have begun to come loose and someone secured it with this glue. Lamb is on cast iron wheels which all roll freely. A nice example of an early toy that is not Steiff, but certainly harder to come by than it’s competitor at the time. A lovely cabinet sized toy to display alongside your bears or dolls. $499.00 postage paid
